Here's the deal...
Ice Duels is the world’s first and only, One on One, Double Elimin-ation Ice Fishing Tournament.
Match fishing on Ice, this tourn-ament puts to rest the question of who the best angler is, on any given day.
It all comes down to the Last Angler Standing, the Survivor of The Ice Duel!
Brackets will be drawn and anglers assigned to designated "courts". Duels are 30 minute head to head match-ups, win and you move on, lose twice and you go home.
Eligible fish species will vary from event to event, but most will see two scored species.
The numbered courts will measure 20’x20’’ and be split in half. Two holes per court will be pre-drilled 18 feet apart and labeled A and B. A scorekeeper will be assigned to each court. Courts and opponents will be assigned at random, holes by a coin toss to begin the match.
Anglers will sit back to back, or side by side. At the starting horn, lures may be dropped into the water and fishing begins. At the 15 minute point, anglers will switch holes. The scorekeeper will tally one point for each fish brought completely out of the water. Fish will be immediately and carefully released.
At 30 minutes, the horn will sound. All anglers must immediately reel in. If the angler is in the process of reeling in a fish when the horn sounds, that fish will count only if it breaks the surface of the water/ice. All decisions of scorekeeper will be final.
Winner of the round will be decided by most fish tallied. If neither angler scores a point, it is considered a tie. All ties will be dealt with by a 10 minute sudden death round. If neither angler scores a point, or another tie happens, winner will be determined by fish total through that round.
After the first round, a 15 minute break will commence and brackets will be re-drawn and announced. The rest of the rounds will follow the same format until the last two anglers are left. A ½ hour break will be given to these anglers to allow them to prepare for their final Ice Duel.
The final round will be on a court chosen by the Tournament Director and the one hour final Duel will begin. At the end of this match an Ice Duel Champion will be named.
